occult hit

the other day we got talking to the lovely natalie smith, one half of our favourite blog 'so much to tell you' about our new delivery of black amber balms. she recounted a story that she wrote about black amber balm creator emmelie brunetti for russh magazine a while ago, and whilst she talks about her initial project 'hopi botanicals' i'm sure emmelie would agree that her motivations and philosophies still apply. it's a beautifully written article and I don't know about you, but i love learning more about passionate creative people, so enjoy it! (click on the article above and click again to magnify)

thanks natalie!

the new shipment of black amber perfume balm's just arrived today, the last shipment sold out so don't delay! available in-store now or online here.

better living everyone

the recently opened douglas + bec is one of our favourite destinations for amazing furniture, accessories and one off gifts - we visited last week and left with one of their incredible white angle lamps... but that's a whole different story...

the lovely owners rebecca snelling and paul dowie were just featured in the latest issue of home new zealand - rebecca wears the jimmy d 'remains' silk shirt dress and paul wears an andrew mark smith 'duo' shirt, and they wear 'em mighty well...

rebecca also divulges that she's (not so) secretly coveting a deadly ponies mr. sleep over from children of vision.

awwwww jeeeez thanks guys!!

k t zoo

take a look at this wonderful article by diane pernet on marjan pejoski and his label ktz - we love how they describe the ktz collection delivering soon "the pulse of the current collection is a 90's party vibe that uses a powerful symbol of a cross mixed with tribal influences from papua new guinea.". think quilted tribal applique on over sized tee's, metallic and jewel encrusted crosses (very prince and the new power generation...) and interlocking rope prints reminiscent of early versace. can't. hardly. wait.

zoo magazine is pretty awesome too, and currently available at borders. snap it up!!

(don't) stop it right now

image courtesy of 'stop it right now'

it's easy to forget on your daily trawl of the blogs that they are in-fact an amazing way to connect with like minded people - blogs after all are a small yet intimate glimpse into someones world, where they are willing to share their current obsessions, thoughts and beliefs. 'stop it right now' was recently introduced to us, and we were immediately smitten with her killer style, her love of ann-sofie back (coming to children of vision this season), and her dry sense of humour. after getting in contact she was lovely enough to do a little write up about the store, and my label 'jimmy d' and the new spring/summer collection due in-store in august. awwww bless!!

make sure to check out 'stop it right now' here, you'll be inspired we promise!

the new issue of fashion quarterly hit the news stands this week, and i don't know about you, but there are few things better than a leisurely brunch and a lingering flick through a new fq... in this new issue we were lucky enough to have one half of children of vision, vicky chan, featured as an example of a 'fashion maverick', talking about her personal style, and her fashion philosophies. there was also a mention of hot shoe label camilla skovgaard that we'll be stocking exclusively in new zealand from next season (due to drop in-store in july/august) pre-order here.

très romantique

we are literally counting down the days, hours and minutes until romance was born's new collection arrives on our door step... until then we are making do with these images from the latest oyster magazine - how cool is the bloody sequin 'cut throat dress'?? the collection called 'nightmare on wall street' takes inspiration from movies such american psycho, nightmare on elm street and working girl (yusss!!), along with 80's business women and the horrors of working 9 to 5. bring on the bloodshed!

romance was born will be instore within the week - stay tuned to our twitter and facebook for more details.

special k

we love karangahape road, the sleaze, the galleries, the good coffee, even the bums are (mostly) friendly. for us k road has the more character and 'soul' than any other part of auckland. and urbis magazine obviously agree, doing a large feature on the iconic street, and name dropping saint kevin's arcade as being "arguably the beating heart of k road" and plonking in a nice big pic of our store. we wouldn't wanna be anywhere else. thanks urbis!

peaches 'n dream

not many people could pull of wearing this mesh leotard by itself, but i'm sure we can all agree that peaches aint your average lady. layers of motor cross padding were removed until peaches was strutting on stage twirling the long silk ties of this jimmy d 'junction' body suit, and may i say looking mighty hot...

jimmy d junction bodysuit due instore february.
